The Burgundy & Blue

This Watchmaker’s Special began with a burgundy dial and an idea from Rob.

The dial carries the Harold Pinchbeck name, a nod to the family watch and clock repair shop opened by Harold Pinchbeck in the early 20th century.

Rob wanted to bring something unexpected to it.

He hand-painted the hour and minute hands in light blue, choosing a colour that stands clearly against the deep burgundy dial.

The same pairing continues beyond the watch.

Rob worked with Tanner Bates in Devon to create a burgundy leather strap, hand-cut and hand-stitched with contrasting blue thread.

Then, for the first time on a Watchmaker’s Special, we commissioned a leather watch wallet specifically to match.

The watch, strap and wallet were conceived as one piece.

Inside is an ETA 2824-2 Swiss automatic movement, assembled, regulated and tested by Rob in our Lincoln workshop.

The Burgundy & Blue sits outside our regular collection.

It wasn’t designed for ongoing production or added to a catalogue. Rob made it because the combination felt worth making.

We may return to the idea again one day.

For now, this is the one he made.
