OUR PROCESS
What happens after you order a Pinchbeck?
Most watches are already made when you buy them.
Ours aren't.
BRITISH DESIGNED &
HANDMADE IN LINCOLN

When you place an order, whether that’s from our made-to-order collection, a personalised or a bespoke piece, your watch begins its journey through our historic Lincoln workshop.
There are no shelves full of finished stock.
No warehouse waiting to dispatch your watch tomorrow.
Instead, we build it, one watch at a time.
PINCHBECK WATCHES - LINCOLN, ENGLAND - EST.2006
Why we build this way
BECAUSE GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME.
Building watches to order isn't the fastest way to do things but it’s the way we've chosen to work.
It allows us to focus on the watch in front of us, rather than chasing production numbers.
It means every watch receives the same attention, whether it's the first watch we've built that month or the last.
Most importantly, it means the story of your individual watch begins the second you take time to choose it.
Not before.
THE JOURNEY
HOW A PINCHBECK COMES TO LIFE

THE JOURNEY // STEP ONE
1.
THE IDEA
Every watch begins somewhere.
It might be a watch you've chosen from our current collection, it might be a personalisation request, it might be a bespoke commission or it might be an idea that has appeared on Rob's bench as a future Watchmaker's Special.
Before a watch can be built, it needs a reason to exist.

THE JOURNEY // STEP TWO
2.
YOUR ORDER
ARRIVES WITH US
Whether you order online or speak to us directly, your watch enters the workshop schedule and the process begins.
Every order is reviewed individually to ensure we have everything needed before assembly starts.

THE JOURNEY // STEP THREE
3.
THE BUILD IS
PREPARED
Rob creates a dedicated build allocation for your watch.
Components are selected, checked and organised specifically for your order, for bespoke projects this may involve design work, renderings and additional conversations. If additional parts are required, they're sourced before assembly begins.
Every watch starts with its own place on the workbench.

THE JOURNEY // STEP FOUR
4.
ON THE BENCH
This is where your watch begins to take shape.
Components are assembled, fitted and checked by hand.
For us, this is where the process becomes personal, it's the point where a collection of individual parts becomes your watch.

THE JOURNEY // STEP FIVE
5.
TESTING AND
INSPECTION
Once assembled, every watch undergoes testing and inspection.
We check performance, operation and overall presentation before the watch can move forward.
If something isn't right, it doesn't leave the workshop, simple as that.

THE JOURNEY // STEP SIX
6.
FINAL
PREPARATION
After testing, the watch is checked, polished and prepared for delivery.
It is placed into its presentation packaging and given a final inspection before dispatch.

THE JOURNEY // STEP SEVEN
7.
READY FOR ITS
OWNER
The final step is often the most enjoyable.
Your watch leaves Lincoln and begins the journey to its new home.
For us, it's the end of the build.
For you, it's just the beginning.
Different Beginnings,
SAME DESTINATION.
All roads lead to the bench.

Visiting the workshop
We offer limited workshop visits by appointment for customers who are seriously considering a purchase or would like help choosing the right watch.
Because we're a working workshop, visits are arranged individually and take place by appointment only.
They're not showroom appointments, they're conversations.
A chance to see the watches, ask questions and spend time with the people behind them.
