ORPHEUS
Following the success of The Lincoln, we approached artist and illuminator Toni Watts with a different challenge.
The result was Orpheus.
Toni created an original artwork inspired by the ancient story of Orpheus and Eurydice using traditional techniques including egg tempera and gold leaf.
That artwork became part of a limited edition watch and demonstrated how traditional artistic practices could find a place inside modern watchmaking.

A Pinchbeck Watch for Those Who Appreciate the Art of Detail
The Orpheus was smart without trying too hard. A little individuality, nothing shouted. You could feel the quality in your hand: the depth of polish on the steel case, the fine lines of the guilloche dial. No photograph really caught it.
It was a watch you noticed with your fingers as much as your eyes. The manual wind had a proper resistance to it. The strap was handmade leather, and it smelled like it.
The movement was Swiss, manual wind, in a 41mm case. The design took its starting point from the Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, and we commissioned an original artwork from Toni Watts to go with it. Every watch came with an archive print of that artwork.
The Pinchbeck Orpheus really ticks all the boxes: immaculately smart, with just the right dash of individuality to be your best watch. Wear it, or just hold it, and you’re in no doubt that this a quality timepiece. Good though these pictures are, they don’t do justice to the subtle details of the guilloche dial, or the superb depth of polish on the steel case. It’s a tactile watch too, from the satisfying action of its manual wind to the lovely aroma of the handmade leather strap.
Driven by a fine Swiss manual wind movement, the Orpheus is 41mm in diameter, and the design was inspired by the ancient Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice. In fact, we commissioned an original artwork from Toni Watts for this project. To make your Pinchbeck Orpheus an even more special purchase we will include an archive-quality print with every watch ordered.
