A Watchmaker's Special is a watch created outside of our regular collection. These watches often begin with an idea, a component, a colour combination or a design direction that doesn't quite fit anywhere else. They are built in very small numbers, often as one-offs, and represent an opportunity for creativity and experimentation within the workshop.

Our collection watches are available to order throughout the year. Watchmaker's Specials are not. They appear when they're ready, are usually available in extremely limited numbers and are offered exclusively through The Watchmaker's List.

Because they are created alongside our regular watchmaking work rather than as part of a planned production schedule. Each one is built because an idea feels worth pursuing, not because a certain number of watches need to be produced.

There is no set schedule. Some years may see several Watchmaker's Specials. Other periods may be quieter. That's part of what makes them interesting. They arrive when the idea is ready, not when a calendar says they should.

No. Watchmaker's Specials are never listed for public sale on the website. The only way to access them is through The Watchmaker's List.

By joining The Watchmaker's List. Members receive advance notice when a Watchmaker's Special is approaching completion and are the first people offered the opportunity to own it.

The Watchmaker's List is our email community for people who want a closer connection to the workshop. Members receive updates from the bench, news about projects and, most importantly, exclusive access to future Watchmaker's Specials.

Because it is the only place where Watchmaker's Specials are offered. They are not advertised publicly, listed in the collection or released through the website. If you'd like the opportunity to own one, you'll need to be on the list.

When possible, members receive advance notice that a watch is nearing completion so they know to keep an eye on their inbox. Once the watch is ready, the full details are shared with The Watchmaker's List first.

Details are sent to members of The Watchmaker's List. The first person to claim the watch becomes its owner. There is no public launch, waiting list or secondary release.

No. We don't operate waiting lists for future Watchmaker's Specials because we often don't know exactly what the next one will be until it begins to take shape.

Not exactly. Watchmaker's Specials are driven by ideas from within the workshop rather than customer commissions. If you're looking for something personal, our Personalised & Bespoke service would be a better route.

Watchmaker's Specials are collaborative by nature, but they often begin with Rob's curiosity and willingness to explore an idea that sits outside the normal collection. The final watch is usually shaped by conversations between the whole team before it reaches the bench.

Originally, the idea came from making use of spare components and exploring possibilities that didn't fit within the collection. Over time they became something more. Today they provide space for experimentation, creativity and the occasional unexpected idea that deserves to become a watch.

They are created to be worn and enjoyed. Their rarity comes from how they are made rather than from a strategy of creating scarcity. If they become collectible over time, that's for owners and future collectors to decide.

Partly because they're rare. But mostly because they're unexpected. They offer a glimpse into what happens when a watchmaker is given the freedom to explore an idea simply because it's interesting. For many people, that's one of the most enjoyable parts of following a small independent British watchmaker.
